Here I am, another adventurer, solo female traveler and passionate Italophile!
I fell in love with Italy in the 1980s when I was backpacking around Europe. Since then I’ve learned to speak Italian, led tours in Italy, obtained a Master’s in Florentine Renaissance history, lived in Italy twice, walked solo for 40 days on the Via Francigena, and figured out how to manifest my wedding in Florence and from that experience created Sogni Italiani, a business I ran for seven years, offering weddings, vow renewals, and honeymoons in Italy.
Italy is my favorite, but it’s not the only place I’ve lived and wandered. In my twenties I backpacked all over Europe and Asia. During that decade I also lived in Switzerland (Lugano) and in Auroville, an experimental community in southern India. Recently I spent three years teaching history at a college in Qatar, which was the most fascinating of my international experiences.
I blog about travel for the Huffington Post and my book about my pilgrimage walk in Italy will be published in 2017. When I’m not writing or teaching history, I am seeking flat warm water to SUP, or I’m photographing the beauty around me and sharing my pictures on instagram.
