Visit the Most Local and Unchanged Market in the City
Explore the intersection of food and culture with this two-hour morning market tour.
We will start by doing what the locals do: head to a charming neighborhood bar for coffee. As we walk to the market I will share history of the city and of its early markets from centuries ago. Arriving at the most local and unchanged market in the city, you will learn about the famous Florentine bistecca, taste phenomenal truffle cheese, view the seasonal fruits and vegetables and discover how Tuscans cook with the seasons. You will meet the local purveyors in family-owned shops who offer products from their farms, and gain a greater appreciation for genuine Tuscan gastronomy. You will have a chance to taste local delicacies and buy unique gourmet food gifts.
Depending on the season, we will finish the tour at an artisanal chocolate shop to either sample the traditional thick dark hot chocolate, or artisan gelato where you will learn how to discern authentic, quality gelato.
